1920s Garnet Double Headed Snake Ring

This amazing 9k solid gold double headed snake ring is at once poisonous and romantic.

This gorgeous piece of history is a double headed snake ring dating from the 1920s. The snake heads are adorned with different colored garnet stones that either look similar or different depending on the light. We have found many snake rings have these slightly differing stones and we believe it is to represent the two different souls coming together.

The double headed snake is a romantic gesture - the snake representing the eternal with its circular shape, and the entwined heads representing the joining of two souls - hence the different gems adorning each head.

This would be an absolutely perfect gift of love: anniversary, birthday, christmas, or any other special time. It is both so modern and so ancient in its symbology.

Hallmarks present, indicating English origin.

Queen Victoria popularized the snake motif in jewelry when her great love, her husband Albert, presented her with a snake ring for their engagement. From Lang Antiques: " In 1840, Victoria married her beloved Albert. The engagement ring that he presented to her was a snake with an emerald-set head. This would become the first Victorian Engagement ring ever made. The snake was a symbol of eternal love and emerald was her birthstone."
