1920s-1930s Art Deco Star Sapphire and Diamond Ring
This quintessential Art Deco engagement ring is resplendent in Deco details. From the gorgeous and arresting dark periwinkle blue Star Sapphire, to the accenting baguettes, to the glittering large face of single cut diamonds and the platinum backdrop to all of the fiery stones, it is simply a jaw-dropper. When we found her, we snatched her up immediately, as it is rare to find a perfect Deco specimen such as this with so much impact.
The large 2.12 Carat Star Sapphire is surrounded in a bevy of diamonds totaling .60 carats, with a ring face that is 11.5mm North-South and 20mm East-West.
For a woman looking for a ring that reflects both the style and decadence of the Art Deco era, this beauty will serve her well, to say the least. This ring is ready to be the star of someone's jewelry collection. Very suitable as an engagement ring as well.
Currently size 5.5 and sizable within reason.

The star sapphire is truly a magical stone:
"For those seeking talismans, star sapphires surpass even regular sapphires in reputed mystical power. The celebrated explorer Sir Richard Francis Burton traveled the Orient with a large star sapphire, known as an asteria. He found it brought him much luck, as the stone’s fame preceded him in his travels. Many believed simply viewing the talisman meant good fortune.
In the past, some Christians referred to star sapphire as the “Stone of Destiny.” They associated the star’s three crossbars with Faith, Hope, and Destiny. They used such talismans as travelers’ guides and as protection from illness and ill omens. Supposedly, the gems warded off the Evil Eye and scared away devils. Some believed the influence of asterias remained even if they left the wearer’s possession." From www.gemsociety.org.
